My mission is to understand the working mechanisms behind energy materials and technologies to help develop better performing sustainable devices of the future. My current research focuses on understanding novel classes of photocatalyst at the atomic scale using light- and gas- coupled transmission electron microscopy. By imaging these systems in similar environments to their working conditions, we can determine how light can be used as a tool for controlling atomic structure and subsequently impact chemistry. I translate this understanding to lab-scaled photochemical testing systems which I helped to build and automate in the Dionne group. By probing these system across length scales, we unearth the working principles and applicability of our findings.
