PhD of Materials Science and Engineering, Penn State University, 2020
MSc of Materials Science and Engineering, Case Western Reserve University, 2016
BSc of Materials Science and Engineering, Sharif University of Technology, Iran, 2013
Parivash received her Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from Pennsylvania State University (PSU) with a focus on modulation, characterization, and nanoscale visualization of plasmonic responses in 3D metalattices and 2D topological insulator nanostructures. She used a range of in-situ electron microscopy techniques combined with low-loss electron energy loss spectroscopy (EELS) and atomic resolution scanning/transmission electron microscopy (HRSTEM) to identify the impact of physical and chemical modifications. During her current postdoc at Stanford, Parivash is working on expanding her skillset and applying her materials science background to the field of precision health and early cancer detection. Her research targets both cancer diagnostic imaging and sensing. For the diagnostic cancer imaging side, she is working with Prof. Jen Dionne and Prof. Craig Levin on developing ultrafast metamaterial nanoscintillators for positron emission tomography (PET) detectors. On the cancer sensing side, she is working with Prof. Jen Dionne on adopting high-Q metasurfaces for enhanced micro-RNA detection as a liquid biopsy marker for early breast and pancreatic cancer detection, opening a new avenue in diagnostic oncology.
