Postdoctoral Scholar, Department of Materials Science and Engineering, Stanford University

Ph.D., Rice University (2024)
Master of Arts, Rice University (2021)
Bachelor of Science, Nanjing University, Chemistry (2019)

Research Interests

Yuan’s research interest lies in understanding fundamental mechanism of heterogeneous photocatalysis processes in microscopic scale and applying the knowledge to decarbonize the industrial scale heterogeneous catalysis processes. Yuan pursued his undergraduate studies in chemistry at Nanjing University from 2015 to 2019. During this time, he conducted research with Prof. Hao Dong in computational biology, using molecular dynamics to study protein conformational changes. For his Ph.D., Yuan transitioned to experimental chemistry, working under the guidance of Naomi Halas and Peter Nordlander on heterogeneous photocatalysis. His doctoral research focuses on demonstrating the sustainable plasmonic photocatalysis.
